Breakfast: It is so hard to do low-carb at breakfast. Most of the typical breakfast foods have tons of carbs. So, I end up eating a lot of eggs.
2 eggs
2 pieces of sausage
1 glass of milk
vitamin

Snack 1:
string cheese
1/2 an avodado
1 can of Dr Pepper 10 (I know, caffeine and tons of other bad things for me. If things don't get better i'll cut that out too but for now it stays.)

Lunch:
2 hot dogs (I know, not that great but I was running late for church)
1 carrot with peanut butter

snack:
string cheese

Dinner:
Pot roast
1 small baked potato with too much sour cream
lima beans

snack:
½ cup ice cream (the lowest carb count I could find)

Okay, this helped. I totally wanted to eat more than this but knowing that I'm going to be posting this really curbed me.

  1. Writing down your foods is a great idea! If you want to actually count calories myfitnesspal.com is a great site. It lets you track food and exercise.

    Keep up the good work!

  2. One of my favorite breakfasts is 1/4c egg whites (like egg beaters or AllWhites) mixed with 1 tbsp salsa, cooked in microwavable bowl for 1-2 minutes (flipped halfway and loosely covered with napkin so it doesn't explode!). Wrap it up in a whole wheat tortilla (extra fiber is more filling) with just a hint of cheese, maybe warm altogether again to make cheese melt, delish! Fast, easy . Eat with a good apple and some lowfat milk, very filling and around 300 calories for everything.

  3. I will check out myfitnesspal.com. Thanks Brittany.
Kristina, that is a good idea. I used to do that but make a bunch of them and freeze them so I just had to pop them in the microwave before work. Maybe i'll do that again. I like them with green chile in them.

  4. I totally don't blame you for the DP! It is SO hard to cut out nice treats/caffeine, etc.. at least you can stomach the low-calorie version. I tried to stop drinking soda and eating sugar once. I got 5 days in and I was miserable, exhausted, cranky, etc.. so I made a deal with myself that if I was going to splurge and have a soda, that I would drink an entire glass of water first. That way there was less room and I went from downing an entire large DP to only drinking abt 2 inches down from top and it felt like I had my fix.

And I know eggs can get boring fast. One thing I got out of the P90X menu planner was scrambled eggs with a few thin chicken strips topped with parmesan cheese.

  5. I need my Dr. Pepper to keep me emotionally and physically energetic enough to keep up with all the other good stuff I am doing. I totally CONDONE the use of it as a diet aid.

(But, I have seen the commercials, and I don't know if women are allowed to drink DP 10! Men only! :) )

    Hang in.
